All the area
telephone codes in Britain begin with a zero (0); for example Norwich is 01603.
Most people read this as ‘O’ (pronounced ‘oh’) apart from a few pedants (like
me) who insist on saying ‘zero’. Does this matter? What is this zero for?
Does it mean ‘nothing’ or does it just mean nothing?
